From the Archives: Rhino Horn at Sonraed Gallery

Not long after the inaugural Rhino Horn show at the New School, Benny Andrews left the group (he would return after a lengthy hiatus to participate in several more shows) to focus on his solo career.  On May 27th, 1970, a month after the first Rhino Horn show, the group christened the opening of Sonraed  at 542 La Guardia Place in Manhattan. Joseph Kurhajec, who was a close friend of the group, showed his sculptures with the remaining six original Rhino Horn artists at Sonraed. Below are several archived  images from newspaper advertisements and posters, as well as a press release announcing the extension of this exhibition due to an overwhelming response.
